It was a gathering of Nigerian men and women in the business and social sectors respectively when members of Sapio Club came together recently at Oriental Hotel, Lagos to discuss about emerging Nigerian leaders. Positive and fruitful discussions were held as Seyi Tinubu an entrepreneur; Thelma Chukwu, oil and gas sector player; Dr. Abasi Ene-Obong, healthcare entrepreneur; Mr. Oluwatobi Ajayi, automobile manufacturing sector, and Tania Omotayo, fashion entrepreneur, among others deliberated on how upcoming Nigerian youth leaders could take the country to higher heights in terms of economic growth and development.
Speaking after the deliberations, Sonnia Agu, founder of Sapio Club stated that the theme of discussion ‘Emerging Nigerian leaders’ is one of the programs lined up for the club. According to her, “Our focus is on high achieving entrepreneurs, civil society leaders and public servants who are unrepentantly committed to taking bold actions that create career and national successes”.
The social entrepreneur is a strong believer in the Nigerian dream with over seven years of strategic and diversified professional experience in social work, media, aviation, oil and gas, and business development. She was part of the team that hosted the Nigeria at 100 centenary celebration hosted by former President, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR.
In 2019 Sonia was invited to Gambia to represent Nigeria in the African Youth Commission’s 3rd Pan African Conference hosted by the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA to discuss how to achieve the UN’s 2063 United Africa Goal; she won the 2018 West African Leadership Summit Awards for community development in recognition of her exemplary leadership, selfless service and dedication to the socio-economic development of West Africa. She is single and comesfrom Okija in Anambra State. She is a transformational leader whose planfor Nigeria can be seen with her pet project called the Sapio Club.
